We could not be more excited about this! "When we meet with companies, they often are interested in working with our colleges and universities, but they do not always know where to start to access the research, workforce development services and other resources that are available in Arkansas," said Clint O'Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. "Partner With U of A will be a great help to businesses that do not have existing campus contacts or that are looking to broaden their engagement with the University of Arkansas."

Congrats to Tractor Supply Company for a wonderful Grand Opening event this morning to celebrate their 10th and largest distribution center. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Commerce Secretary Hugh McDonald, members of the Arkansas legislature and several state and local leaders gathered to celebrate this 500 job/$175M investment in the City of Maumelle, Arkansas. Rather than the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, CEO Hal Lawton destroyed a pallet with a chainsaw, followed by much confetti! The Arkansas Economic Development Commission is proud to work alongside many partnering organizations on this project. A big shoutout to Danny Games, Christopher Murphy, Tandee White, PCED and the team at Entergy for their work on the Select Site program that played a major role in this location decision. Big congrats to Maumelle Mayor Caleb Norris, Courtney Dunn, PCED, and the team at the Little Rock Regional Chamber.

Happy #EconomicDevelopmentWeek to all in the field of Economic Development. I want to give a special shoutout to my colleagues at the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. I’m honored to work alongside a group of dedicated economic development professionals who are engaged and committed to the mission! At AEDC, we know economic advancement doesn’t happen by accident. We work strategically with businesses and communities to create strong economic opportunities, making Arkansas the natural choice for success. Below are some photos from a recent all-staff get together. There are many initiatives that our team is diligently working on, from policy issues to planning events and conferences, community development initiatives to laying the groundwork and giving customer service that leads to job growth in the areas of entrepreneurship, the growth of existing businesses and business recruitment. From our start as the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission in 1955, led by Chairman (and later Governor) Winthrop Rockefeller to the leadership we have today with Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Commerce Secretary Hugh McDonald, and the incredible team at AEDC, I believe we have a very bright future ahead of us in Arkansas!
