The strength of our infrastructure depends on the health of those who construct it. As they perform their mentally and physically exhausting tasks, we're committed to building a workplace environment that prioritizes psychological safety as much as physical. #Construction #Safety #ConstructionSafetyWeek
Our construction workers are a group who do what it takes, working through a pandemic and the influx of critical infrastructure work at neck-breaking speed. This is mentally and physically exhausting work. We owe it to them to talk about how they are doing hard and dangerous work, and not everyone coming to work each day is okay. Data from the CDC shows the construction industry has the second highest rate of suicide among industries. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics states drug use, such as opioid abuse, is twice as prevalent among construction workers as it is for general population. We can’t be gentle with safety. We must find ways to dramatically change how we work to support mental health and overall well-being of our construction workers. No matter the stressors, there’s plenty of room for healing and seeing construction crews feel mentally safe and protected. Hear from Rob Alfred steps our companies can take to support their construction employees and contribute to positive on-site change. https://hubs.li/Q02w8MM80 #ConstructionSafetyWeek #Construction #AZCO #DesignBuild
