Reusing passwords can be risky. Take the Change Healthcare breach, for example. Attackers used stolen credentials to access an app without MFA. They stayed unnoticed for over a week before causing chaos with ransomware. In any industry, it's crucial to identify vendors or service providers that could disrupt your cash flow and operations. If you haven't identified your critical business vendors and have plans in place if their services are interrupted, schedule a call today: https://lnkd.in/e9iitKfY #CybersecurityAwareness #MFA #BePrepared #ComplianceAsAService
One of the most common findings I see in vulnerability scans are related to the password practices of users. Reusing passwords is understandable, common, and risky. The Change Healthcare attackers used stolen credentials on an application that allows remote access. That should not have been a problem, they use multifactor authentication, right? Well, what had happened was, multifactor authentication was not enabled on this particular application. The hackers were able to remain in the Change Healthcare network for more than a week before the ransomware was activated. The ransomware attack crippled many hospital, clinics, and doctor’s offices by disrupting the Change Healthcare services they depended on, almost exclusively, for insurance reimbursements and other services. Without these reimbursements, many of those affected had to move funds around in order to ensure they were able to make payroll. No matter what industry you are in, be sure to know the vendors and/or service providers that can disrupt your cash flow, normal operations, and plan what your organization will do if their service is interrupted. https://lnkd.in/gHdE5HB3

Have you heard of CEO fraud? Debit cards connect directly to your bank account! This means if you purchased something from a fake website or a phishing website and a cybercriminal stole your information, they could have direct access to your phone. Credit cards or third-party payment sites like Paypal are much safer options for making online purchases. Be cyber-smart so you can enjoy the holiday season with peace of mind.

The holidays are here! Are you doing any online shopping this season? 🎁 My guess is you probably are because, let’s be honest, ‘one-click ordering from home in pajamas’ beats out ‘fighting against the crowd for the last massage chair in stock’ any day. Unfortunately, the cyber-schemers and scammers out there know this, and they’ve been preparing. BUT, this year, you can be prepared. We just posted a short blog sharing four of the most popular scams you need to watch out for. Find out what they are here - https://buff.ly/45PSCMp
