The theme of the Council’s spring meeting focused on Northwest Arkansas’ challenges created by rapid growth such as needing affordable housing, more infrastructure and paying to improve highways in ways that would reduce traffic congestion. Council leaders announced plans to create a regional growth strategy. “While this growth trajectory is good news for the already booming economy, Northwest Arkansas is already feeling the impacts of rapid population growth,” said Nelson Peacock, the Council’s president and CEO. “Rising housing costs, traffic and physical infrastructure issues threaten the quality of life for NWA residents.” #NWArk #nwarkansas #northwestarkansas #regionalstrategy #growth

Practically every company in NWA – including national leaders like Walmart, Tyson Foods and J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. – requires reliable IT support employees to thrive. Northwest Arkansas workers can learn new skills and advance in the workforce through a new micro-credential system at NorthWest Arkansas Community College. NWACC recently received a $542,366 grant from the Walton Family Foundation to add skill-based micro-credentials to existing learning pathways this fall. Micro-credentials allow learners to increase their job skills while pursuing a degree or by taking a stand-alone course, and they’ll include education in areas such as management, oral communication, critical thinking and problem solving. #NWArk #LifeWorksHere #nwarkansas #northwestarkansas #workforce
